Language Arts In reading this month, students are working on identifying important ideas in in both fiction and informational text in order to write reviews that include summaries and recommendations supported by evidence from the text. During IDR, students practice using these reading strategies in news articles and textbooks.
In writing, students are finishing their research piece. Some children are using their research paper to create a presentation of their research. In May they will present.
Mathematics Unit 10 focuses on algebra. During this unit, student explore variables and writing number sentences. In addition, they learn how to graph tables and interpret the resulting line graphs. They also explore parts of circles. Find out more in the Unit 10 Family Letter
Science
Our final science unit is Microworlds.Students will learn how to observe and will become skilled at using microscopes, slides, and coverslips. Students will observe live living organisms at the end of the unit.

Social Studies.During the third trimester, students learn about the the American Revolution. After exploring the rising tensions between Britain and its colonies, the students hold a debate between the loyalists and the patriots. In addition, children read the Declaration of Independence, learn how the United States defeated Britain. Finally, students will learn about the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights
