Special Events
On March 22nd the second graders will be performing The Great American Puzzle Party for parents in the cafetorium.  Be sure to come early to get a good seat!  We will be lined up on the stage in this order...
STAGE

AUDIENCE
This may be helpful when looking for a good seat.
There will be a small reception after the show for students and parents.  We look forward to seeing you!

Language Arts
We change our focus from reading and writing fiction to reading and writing nonfiction.  We are using the reading strategies of making connections, visualizing, inferring and wondering.  We are learning how to identify the main idea in a story or passage and locate the supporting details.
We are enjoying learning so many new facts from our nonfiction texts.
Math
As we continue to add to our skills in Math, we ask parents to encourage their children to work towards earning their Xtra Math addition and subtraction certificates.  A few minutes each night will help your child build lasting knowledge of these facts.  Third grade  teachers assure us that this knowledge is necessary for success in third grade Math.
