BIENVENUE A LA CLASSE DE FRANCAIS French 7 and French 8 These courses introduce students to all aspects of the French language. They get exposure to French as it is spoken communicatively from video scenes, taped spoken conversations and from frequent interactive class activities. The class develops at a moderate pace to keep the students comfort level high in their attempt to communicate in a new language. As they progress they are learning to write and develop a familiarity with the French phonetic and spelling system. The students are learning about the countries where French is spoken and are exposed to cultural differences in the target culture. They develop an awareness of appropriate responses in culturally different situations. By the end of the 8th grade course they are able to express themselves orally and in writing in familiar situations. Assessment will be based on a variety of activities, including oral presentations and skits, which demonstrate the students progress in the foreign language.
