Radnor Township School District

ACTS Program

Aligning Curriculum and Technology with Standards

The ACTS Program was developed to assist teachers in designing standards-based technology rich learning experiences for students.  Due to the outstanding success of this program in Radnor, the school district has continued to fund this initiative to support teachers as they build their understanding of technology integration and effective lesson design. This is the fifth year of the ACTS Program in Radnor.
Teachers submit requests to participate in this program.  Through the application process, teachers select a piece of technology to use in their classroom and identify a content area of focus. Teachers participate in six days of professional development and develop an instructional project that supports academic standards and higher order thinking skills. Model lessons that demonstrate the dynamic intersection of curriculum and technology are viewed and discussed. Participants identify an academic benchmark, develop essential questions for investigation and design a unit of study that utilizes technology to improve teaching and learning.  Participants will then share this lesson design with two colleagues in their respective grade levels or departments. Seventeen teachers will participate in this initiative in the 2011-2012 school year.  Technology requests include Smartboards, laptops, Smartslates and iPads.
